A new project by Yolanda Dominguez, Poses is a direct criticism of the absurd and artificial world of glamour and fashion that magazines present. Specifically, the highly-distorted poses and the unrealistic images of women that they transmit. The Spanish artist asked a group of women to transfer these poses to daily scenes: the queue of a museum, the supermarket or the bus stop, sparking off the reaction of the spectators.

Nothing deep or insightful here – just a self-proclaimed ‘artist’ taking an easy shot at attention seeking by attempting a lazy, superficial and meaningless ‘comment’ on something via an irrelevant means.

Better to have put the ‘ordinary’ women (why does that equate to plain, dumpy women these days? Actually ordinary women are beautiful too) into the studio or taken the fashion models into the world – oh that’s right it would have looked great and proven the opposite of Yolanda-Be-Cool’s ‘artistic point’
