The Black Velvet Art of Bruce White

The medium of choice for Bruce White is one that gets a bad rap. It’s one that litters cheap strip malls and flea markets, and is almost exclusively limited to portraits of Elvis and Jesus. The North Carolina-based tattoo artist and painter, however, is doing wonders to rid black velvet paintings of its negative connotations by creating gorgeous portraits of pop culture icons of both cinema and TV. He has a thing for sci-fi and cult flicks; especially Star Wars, Star Trek, and Planet of the Apes, but also immortalizes the likes of Pee Wee Herman, Batman (Adam West), and Willy Wonka.
